Mark E. Hurvitt, Superintendent of Schools

Welcome to Maine School Union 93. We work with five towns (Blue Hill, Brooksville, Castine, Penobscot, and Surry) which make up about half of the Blue Hill Peninsula. Each town runs a K-8 school and has its own school board. School Unions are Maine's oldest administrative structure, going back to the 1920s. Each Union town contracts with our Central Office for superintendent, special education, technology, and other financial services. Our schools are characterized by their positive atmospheres, their low student-teacher ratios, and their connections to their communities. We tuition all of our high school students, mostly to George Stevens Academy in Blue Hill. However, students are free to attend any high school, in Maine or out of state, which has been approved for tuition purposes. We have a fantastic teaching and support staff, and we are fortunate to be set in five small, distinctive communities on the Maine coast.
